We are pleased to inform you of an upcoming national conference that will seek to address the healing of our people from shame or kahihiyan. As you know, shame – a pernicious Filipino stronghold — is at the root of most of our relational and sexual brokenness. Latest survey shows the Philippines has outranked most Asian countries in visiting pornographic websites — a Filipino spends an average of six hours on porn. Our men have the biggest number of multiple sexual partners in Asia-Pacific, and our women are the world’s fourth largest visitor of a famous porn website. At the core of this sexual immorality is a sense of damaged identity and feeling lesser than or inferior than others. The conference, called Bakit Ako Nahihiya? A Conference on Freedom from Shame, aims to give hope for freedom from this national malady. Focusing on healing from both shame and self-hatred, the conference shall be led by Embracing Life Ministries (www.embracinglife.us), a global outreach proclaiming the abundant life of Jesus in the places where there is “spirit of death” such as despair, hopelessness, resignation and depression. It is headed by Jonathan Hunter, who has been preaching the message of sexual redemption in different parts of the world. It will be held on January 15, 2016, Friday, 6-10pm and on Jan.16, Saturday 9am-9pm.It will be held at the Red Cross Building, # 37 EDSA (Boni).
